i have an 84 S10 2.8L V6. Do i have to remove the intake manifold to get the lifters out to replace them cause one is being very noisy? and if so do i have to take the carburetor off first? what is the easiest way to get them out?

I think you'd better check this out at a local repair garage. There are many trustworthy ones. I usually search in car repair directories to find something good.

Its been awhile but I think if you remove the carb first it would be easier to repair, takes the manifold off and clean it well (drain the coolant first) when you remove the lifter check the cam and the bottom of the lifter to be sure there is no extra damage there. Soak the lifter in transmission oil to prime it before you install it. By the way on some of the Chevy's you might try to adjust it first before you do all that work. Good Luck and GOD Bless

no, remove the intake and carb as one unit. if one is very noisy isolate that one and you can clean it and replace it. if you want to replace them all make sure you properly prelube the lifters by letting them soak in clean oil for at least a couple of hours. as for getting them out a pocket screwdriver placed just inside the lifter will allow you to lift them right out. make sure you adjust them correctly when reinstalling everything. also, please change your oil before you start it up for the first time. prefilling the oil filter will help....good luck
