Mandalay Bay - Probably the nicest place in Vegas although I haven't stayed at the Wynn (but I hate the decor at the Wynn)Bellagio - Very nice buffet, but super spendy.
Treasure Island - Lovely petite suites and cheap if you go midweek
Rio - All suites and away from the strip - by far the best buffet in Vegas
Circus Circus, Imperial Palace, and anything by Freemont Street are ghetto.
Of course, I don't gamble, but I do spend a lot of time in Vegas.

It's been a few years ago, but I stayed at the Imperial Palace. OK.
The Flamingo. I really liked the pool area. It was nice.
Stayed at Circus Circus, had a child. It was nice with a child.
I think it was called Jackie Gaughan's hotel when I stayed there. I think it has a different name now. It was downtown and one of the most friendliest hotels that I have ever stayed in. The dealers were so nice and the waitresses. Everyone was wonderful.
My all time favorite would be the Luxor. I stayed there last time. It was so hard to even find our room because everything looked alike.
I love Vegas. Don't like to gamble, just like to look. Go around Christmas and they are decorated so beautiful . It's hard to pick a favorite as far as being beautiful. They all have so many amenities and bright lights these days.

Where I have stayed in Vegas:
My mother-in-law's house
My sister-in-law's house (which I highly recommend over my mother-in-law house) (ha ha)
Now for the hotels:
Arizona Charlie's (the one on Decatur)
Gold Coast
Santa Fe
Golden Nugget (after the remodel of the late 80's)
(sorry it's only 4)
AZ Charlie's is consitently the best value -- even as a 'walk-in' (close to relatives, relatively inexpensive, wife likes their machines -- good and cheap food at the restaurant).
Gold Coast has been the cheapest. The rooms are clean and plain, and it is close to the strip without actually being 'on' the strip. I have been there several times on business trips (when it wasn't appropriate to stay with relatives). The GCoast was always my hotel-of-choice.
Santa Fe is the newest of the 4, so it has the nicest rooms. It is the closest to relatives, but almost the furthest away from the 'strip' of any casino in town. Food is lacking, but they have a very nice bowling alley and a full ice-skating rink (both of which I enjoy when I visit). I don't know what the "Station" group has done with it since they took over.
Golden Nugget -- we stayed one time when a business acquaintance left early and gave us his room for the night. The upgrades were adaquate, but underneath it all it is still an old run-down downtown casino-hotel.
Because we lived there and when we visit, stay with relatives, we don't often stay in hotels -- much less the fancy ones on the strip.
There is nothing wrong with staying at an "off-the-strip" hotel.

The one guy said Circus Circus in my cheaper days
But you know what for the value it is great to sleep and shower there.
Then you can go to any casino for the day.
Stations Casinos has some marvelous places.
Also downtown Henderson has the Emerland Island.
There's so many to visit and just have a good time and enjoy the experience.

Well i have stayed at the mirage, the treasure island, saharah, circus circus, riviera, venitian, harrahs, luxor, mandelay bay, the hilton, bally's, and the rio.
it all depends on you budget and what your looking for. i would recommend the venitian if money isnt an issue.
but if you are looking for something cheap i would recommend ballys or harrahs they are nice middle of the road hotles with great location.
the hilton is also really nice but you HAVE to get a monorail pass (due to its location) the pass is actually a really good deal if you buy the day pass. the saharah is cheap but decent i stayed there most recently they only have double beds not queens but you get what you pay for and again u need a monorail pass.
if you want a hotel with an awesome theme again i would recomend the venitian or the luxor...
the mirage and treasure island are awesome hotels as well...
check out vegas.com visitlasvegas.com and google vegas hotel reviews and click on the trip advisor website to see if anything peaks your interest

Tropicana,
Imperial Palace,
Flamingo,
Bally's,
New York, New York,
Paris,
Venetian,
Tuscany
I like the central strip location the best. Flamingo, Ballys, Paris, Bellagio, etc...I prefer to stay at the Tuscany because I'm not in my room very often so I do not need the posh rooms Venetian or even the level of Paris. Tuscany is located right behind Bally's so it is a great location and the price is always right. The rooms are big and the food is good as well.

These are where I've stayed and my thoughts.
Riviera - NEVER AGAIN. We just didn't know any better.
TI - loved it. Very classy. Easy to maneuver around at the time we stayed there. Now, I found the casino VERY smoky.
The Mirage - very nice, but easy to get disoriented in the casino
Hard Rock Hotel - party like a rockstar!
NYNY - I dug it. Kinda reminded me of home. =)
Excalibur - WAY too many children!!
Luxor - I liked the room, but hated hiking to it every night. Felt like forever.
