He had a smile sewn in black thread, but it appeared to be a single stitch or two (smile was a couple of inches wide). My daughter has "loved" Poli way too much and along with turning him all grey and nappy, his smile has come undone and she's all upset. How do I sew it back on? HELP!

Oh No! Poli lost his smile! Well we can get him smiling again one way or another. Do you have a refrence picutre on how his smile looked beforehand? was it the usual ^ shape? Best thread for this would be black embrodery thread. You would need to embroder the mouth back on. There are plenty of sites that would teach you this basic technique. However, put the needle at an angle so it pokes through horizontally insted of vertically. That way you can stitch it back on. If its a curvy more like this: 3 Well, take smaller stitches so you can navigate the curve better. Please tell me how Poli turns out and if he "recovers" from his mouth "surgery"

If the material is fragile and you fear it might not hold up to new stitching, you could draw on a new smile with a fabric marker or laundry marker.
