If you can move your toes, there a less chance that they are broken. You can still have a small fracture, though. Elevated your foot and ice it well. Take 1000mg of tylenol or 800mg motrin to help w/ the pain and swelling. If you can't move your toes or the swelling gets worse or the toes look blue or dusky color, go to the emergency room tonight. Sounds painful.

The only to tell if it's broken or not is if you get a x-ray. Go to your nearest podiatrist to have it checked out. It's better to be safe than sorry. Whether it's bruised or broken, treat it as if it is broken. Most likely, you'll get a small fracture shoe and the doctor will teach you how to buddy splint the injured toes. It'll take about 2-3 weeks if it's bruised and about 3-4 weeks if it's broken to heal up.

Can you wiggle your toes? Do you feel a sharp pain? Elevate your foot. Put ice on the injury. Take aspirin or a pain reliever for the pain. Most of the time doctors will not cast broken toes, but they can be splinted. I broke my little toe and simply taped it to the toe next to it until it healed. Try to stay off your foot as much as possible. If you need to wear shoes try loose fitting sandals or slip on shoes...slippers also work well.

You should ice and elevate it. If it is broke, there is nothing that really can be done to a toe. If you tape that toe and another toe together, sometimes it makes the pain a little more bearable.

If it starts to get blackish you should go to the ER to have it checked. There isn't a lot to do for broken toes but there ARE some things you should NOT do and you want to know for sure.

If your toes are broken, theres not much to do. Put some ice on it and take some pain relievers. Try to keep your foot propped up.

Consult a doctor as quick as you can, this injury can cause fracture or infection. If it hurts too much then it is broken and you can tend to it by using some ice and keeping it at rest.
