I have frequently written letters to the House of Commons when different issues have risen, or when the Goverment is asking Canadians their thoughts (same sex debate etc.). So far, I have received several aknowledgments back from the Goverment saying that my opinions will be considered in the house. Whether they were or not, I don't know, but I know they are obligated to read all communications from the public.

Mine, do! I not only e-mail, and snail mail my Senators, I also use the telephone to ensure I am heard. Loud, and clear! And, I also get legitimate responses... IMHO, they are working the way our Congress is supposed to work - for "We the People."
Fortunately, I find my Senators to be like-minded, and speak for me and the American People, as professional, strong and outspoken Senators - the Rep., for my district is being investigated for such things as bribery and misuse of public funds - not certain of the specifics, it's been a long time in process.

On request for help with problem with government agency such as getting passport in time for trip, they are helpful

Apparently they don't or if by chance they do.....they just blow us off. If they read anything why do they keep insisting most Americans want amnesty for the illegals? I guess we best be real careful who we vote for next time around. Lets clean house.
