sometimes the side effects of these anti depressents can be the cause but you should let the one who prescribes this know. maybe they have to lower the dosage.

Many different things could be going on here. First of all, how long have you been on the anti-depressants? If you just recently started taking them, they may not have had enough time to start working yet. Anti-depressants take time to regulate the brain chemicals that control your emotional well-being.

Second, how many different anti-depressants have you tried? If you're only on your first or second try, you may simply need to try a few others. It often takes several tries in order to find an anti-depressant that works for you. It's very important to keep trying. Don't give up!

Third, you say that you "have seen a counselor." Does this mean that you are currently seeing one, or was this in the past? If you are no longer seeing your counselor, how long did you go to see him/her before you decided to stop? Psychotherapy doesn't work quickly, no matter what anyone tells you. It's a process, and unfortunately sometimes it's very difficult to stick with it. But it's really important to give it time.

It's also possible that, if you were/are seeing a therapist consistently and are not seeing any improvement, you just need to look around for a different counselor. Every therapist brings his/her own unique qualities and paradigm to the therapy process, and sometimes a lack of progress in therapy just means that the fit between you and your therapist is not quite right. In this case, it would be to good to see who else is out there.

Please don't give up. I know from experience how difficult depression is. It often feels like the pain and sadness will never go away. But it's important not to believe this feeling. Keep looking around until you find what it is that you need to help you be happy again. God bless you in your efforts. :-)

My wife went through a time just like you described. She cried all the time and just wasn't herself at all. Once the Dr found the right anti-depressant for her, it made all the difference in the world. She said like she felt like she had come out of a fog and could think clearer. I think you have to be patient and find the right anti-depressant. It may take 2 or 3 different ones to find the one for you. You will know after 2-4 weeks of taking it. I wish you well & hope you will find peace & get your life back soon.

Clearly your medication isn't doing it for you. Tell the doctor and have him try something else. You sound severely depressed. Many people make several false starts before they find the medication that is right for them. Also, you may need to have a good physical. You could be anemic or have an underactive thyroid. Bless your heart, I wish I could give you a hug.
