ohhhhh.... good question. Well if the train is flying, best bet is to run to the basement.
Well in most cases the local weather channel will issue warnings for a tornado in any area, that is when you use common sense to figure out if a tornado is coming your way. Also trains have a schedule and the only time you have to worry about a tornado coming through at the same time as the train is when the warning coincide with the train schedule.

I also live near a train track. You get to know the sounds and the horns. You also get used to the vibrations of the trains.
When there is a tornado watch/warning you will hear about it on the news. You can also get a weather alert radio monitor that plugs into the wall and when there is a severe weather alert it gives off an loud alert sound, and then a recording will tell you what type of alert. I have one in my home that I use in the summer. It was purchased at Radio Shack.

darn scratch your head answers. Next time a train goes by, focus on how your house shakes, the feel of how your body moves if it even moves. That way when a tornado comes thru if the house doesn't move the same and you can't keep your balance then that means a tornado is getting close.
Good Luck. I hope this will at least help you some.

If you have time, go to the tracks and lay a hand on one of the rails. If you feel it vibrating it's a train. If not, head for the storm cellar.

If it rumbles your house and looks like a bunch of boxes tied together, its a train.
If it tears your house to shreds, throws you all over the place, and looks like a spirally cone of air, it's a tornado.
