Randy Johnson closed out Schilling's start when Arizona won the World Series a few years ago. Because the D-Backs came back from a deficit, Johnson got three of Arizona's four wins in that series.

Yes. This happened quite a few times. In the 1999 game 5 division series between the red sox and indians, Pedro Martinez came in the 3rd inning and pitched 6 shut out (and i think hitless or 1 hit) innings and the red sox won the game 12-8 and won the series. In game 7 of the 2001 world series between the yankees and diamondbacks, randy johnson came i think in the 8th inning, relieving curt schilling, and the dbacks came back and won the game and series in the 9th inning. In 2003, Beckett was used by the marlins in the middle of game 7 of the NL championship series with the cubs and won. Randy Johnson also came in extra innings of game 5 of the 1995 division series between the mariners and yankees and the mariners won that game and series. And in the 2005 division series between the braves and astros, Roger clemons came in extra innings and the astros won the game and the series. There are other example but those are the main ones that i can remember.

The White Sox used El Duque Hernandez against the Red Sox in the late innings with no one out and the bases jammed....he channelled his Yankee clutchness and didn't allow a run.

that was part of the Smoltz went to the bull-pin, he did such a good job in the playoffs, and the Braves didn't have a closer. I believe he just became the first to get 200 wins, and 100 saves.

Oh yes, if a seventh game is close, a team will go all out to win it.
