I'm not sure what you are asking. Hermit crab claws/legs come in several colors. Mainly the ones I sell are red, blue, olive green, and purplish colored.
It is difficult to determine when the crab will switch shells but here are some tips.
The crab should have several unpainted shells(natural) that have entrance holes a little larger than the shell the crab is in now.
There should be a small dish for water, not a sponge, because, sponges hold too much bacteria.
Dish #2 should be a small glad ware container w/sand & water so the crab can crawl in & out any time, like at the beach. The whole cage should be covered in sand.
A hermit crab about to shed, will either hide or be sitting out in the open. Be careful about handling. The crab will crawl out of the shell, then shed the whole exoskeleton, it will either eat the shed or leave it behind. Either way, do not disturb the crab because the new crab will be very soft for at least 24 hours. If you notice the crab in the exact same spot for more than 2 days. Pick it up and smell it. If it smells, dispose of it because it is dead. If there is no smell, just put the crab back.
Sometimes a newly shed crab will hide in a shell too. Just leave it alone.

Some hermit crabs are blue. Now, if it's turning blue, that's different.

im not sure, has it always been that way?? i dont think the shells change colors when they grow out of them, they just get too big for the shell.

Joe just needs to stop talking...

no, they change colors from time to time, they usually go from pink to blue, but you should definitely always have a bigger empty shell for them. its difficult to tell when exactly they're going to change so just in case! so be patient and don't worry its completely normal! good luck!
