If you are trustworthy and dedicated, you would be fine in any job. But ask yourself this question, why do I want to work at Starbucks? OK, it a glamour job of all jobs, but it is still only a job and have you watched those people work? They don't stand around, they are constantly doing something, cleaning, making coffee, getting supplies, etc. How are you at home, do you help out with chores without being told every minute? Are you a self-starter? Can you take criticism? Can you keep a friendly smile on your face even tho you're tired and cranky and your feet hurt.? And last, can you get to work before your time and helping with setups even tho not your job? If you can answer yes, I say go for it because I see a young person who is willing to go the distance for that job. Put a smile on your face and ask for an application, then take it home and really read it before you write one word. Erasers on application may look like you are lying and it also makes application sloppy, which may man, you are also a sloppy person. When you take the application clean up, nice shirt, shined shoes, clean pants, fingernails neat and trim and Clean. To an employer, first impressions count.. Look your best.

Honestly, I would suggest going with something a little less intense for your first job at such a young age. Regardless of how people feel about Starbucks, it is a good company to work for (decent pay for the industry, full medical/dental/vision insurance, profit sharing, stock options, 401-k, all for anyone who works at least 20 hrs a week). However, the work is hard (long hours on your feet, LOTS and LOTS of cleaning, intense customer service work), and you may need to ease yourself into it by choosing a first job that will give you some experience and confidence. It's a great job to get you through college, though!

I think it's a great job opportunity, but maybe not as a first job.

Downsides: It can be very demanding during busy times, you have lots of different "recipes" to remember and have to be trained on the machines, and many companies won't hire someone so young as 16 because they want someone with a little experience.

Upsides: good pay (from what I've heard), good benefits (you wouldn't have to worry so much about that right now), and some free coffee :)

I've always wanted to work at one, and hope to do so next year at college, so best of luck to you!

I think Starbucks is a great place to start your career. Working in this atmosphere you will be influenced by people with high standards and can learn from this. It is hectic, but this is the way life is. I think its a great idea. Network, learn all you can. Various people come through and you will learn how to be a great customer service and people person by the high demands. Good Luck...

Starbucks is awesome! I love that place. It seems like they pay well and it is perfect for younger people. If that doesn't work you can also try waittressing at a near by reatuant in town. Or even at a grocery store . . .
Good Luck!

i do no longer even could desire to think of roughly this one. Dunkin' Donuts. I drink an excellent type of coffee (a pair of pot an afternoon), yet I do exactly no longer look after Starbucks. according to possibility it incredibly is the undeniable fact that I basically delight in real coffee, and not cappucinos.

if you want to make some money and stay busy sure....

i wouldnt want to work in a place where im confined to one space..

then you have people lined up for miles hollering about a latte and staring at you while you make it..its distracting..

and then when you call the order out, nobody comes to get it..

hell no..

but your young so you hve to start somewhere.

what about Bestbuy..you get a great discount and you see everything that comes out first?
