"Cheesy" is a popular slang for "lame", as stale cheese smell, well, you know. It's usually associated with old-school material or fashions that would be out of place in today's society.
And example of a cheesy saying: "That Eminem video has been overdone so many times that it's starting to get cheesy."

Ya KNOW how ya say "cheeese" when someone is taking your picture so you can put on a fakey smile for the camera? Well, Cheesy is something that is Fakey and/or cutesy.
I can't think of a cheesy saying off the top of my head. "Well, don't you just look as CUTE as a BUTTON!!!" is a little cheesy though
