I have a large strawberry bed that I put in new last season. This year for some reason, the weeds came in like I've never seen before. I want to transplant as many of the plants that survive to a spot that has been kept more weed free. Here in Minnesota, the first frost usually comes in mid September. When would be the best time to transplant for greatest survival? Now or later?

best thing for transplanting strawberries is late spring that way the possibility of cold weather hurting a weak plant is lessened. you should be alright to transplant. make sure though to avoid problems in the future to get a good mulch down around the plants after they've taken to the new soil

Do it now so the plant has some time to get established before the winter sets in!

It depends if you want the fruit or not. It sounds like they could do with a good feed and water though. If you prune them now you probably won't get any fruit this year
