err yes. Because, speaking of personal experience, i see that when i love myself, i feel confident and happy, thus i can spread my energy towards other people around me, especially deared ones. I can feel comfortable enough to put my "self" aside and focus on others feelings. When i love other people, i feel happy (again, a bit of feeling proud about my compassion and selflessness). While before, i was so focused into my appearance and how to keep it "cool", i couldn't love anybody, even was afraid of seeing them.
So yes self-love could be the highest possible form of love. But there also exists mother love. This love numbs your low self-esteem if you have it, drives your energy toward another person, who appears to be helpless than you. So i think mother-love is the highest form of love.
And why am i talking like i'm writing a report?

B. I've been doing THAT since puberty, and I read your question, didn't I?
