Right at the moment I wouldn't take that bet.
Once we have the nominees I could make the determination in that I do not think the nation will go one way or the other simply based on the party, but rather on who the nominees are (and possibly the attacks on those nominees that will follow).
I would guess however Republican in that the strategies will be easier for them. I do think...regardless of who wins...it will be another close election.

Republicans they will be humiliated into admitting Bush is a fascist liar and go back to the old platform less is more and restore our Constitution and our freedom.
Nancy impeachment is off the table Pelosi and Hilary Femi-Nazi I support the war, but don't support the war, but do support the war if you do and cared for illegal immigrants in the city 30 years before they existed, sold weapons technology to China Clinton have made a mockery out of Democrats party. While invading Iraq was a terrible mistake this is far to critical of a time to get a typical lay down and die Carter install Khomeini in Iran or start a war for profit FDR, Wilson or LBJ.
The world has some very serious issues and only the Republicans can restore the Constitution in a firm but intelligent manner I know that's seems absurd right now because they are under the spell of Bush. We have a rough road ahead filled with landmines Bush has laid the Republicans will admit their faults and find their way.
I'm editing this for the Marine I really apreciate what you do no man or woman can give a greater gift, but I'm a finacial fraud investigator and have studied the finacial trail I have many freinds in the military including Marines and have freinds who are defense contractors. I believe DU is being used and harming our troops and I do believe we may have had to go into Iraq and may need to go back if we leave, it's just the big rush based on flimsy evidence it seemed to make more sense to focus on Afganistan. I wish it was anyone other than Bush and Cheny calling the shots. I pray I do not cause you danger.
God Bless you Marine all the best!
Democrats will have no realistic foreign policy or plans as they never have.

Well, I think everyone knows that it's the Democrats' race to lose this year. Unless they make a terrible mistake, they will probably win. The war is just too big an issue to most people to give it to a Republican, and especially not one who is backing up the president.
On the other hand, if the Republicans nominate someone like Ron Paul (a longshot for the nomination, I know, but there's a lot of dissatisfaction even among Republicans), then there's still a chance of him winning. Regardless of the party, though, I think we're pretty sure to see a major shift in policy.

The republicans will probably win. The democratic candidates are actually being harmed by the fact that the democrats have taken over congress. It is much easier to be critical when someone else is in charge. But when you have control and still cannot accomplish anything it damages all democrats.
I must qualify all this opinion by saying that it is still way too early to start counting chickens. There are so many things that can happen between now and the end of 2008.

I think a Republican will win in the end. The liberals are too liberal, even for their own party. I think some of the democratic voters will balk at voting for a candidate who wants to turn us into a communist state, believe it or not. I think it will be close but the scales will tip red on election day.

Unfortunately, if the Republicans don't start turning the page in Iraq and getting some important results, the Democrats have a good chance. I do believe however that the Christian vote will go OVERWHELMINGLY to the Republicans as ALL of the Democrats are liberal, not the least of which is Barack Obama. Viva la morals and viva la conservative!

Interesting proposition. I will be voting republican unless McCain is the candidate. In that case I'll not vote at all. I would have to bet that a democrat wins the presidency, but it wouldn't surprise me for the Congress to revert to republican control.

Haha...I am a reg. Demo. Although I strongly believe in what we are doing in Iraq (I spent 4years in the USMC).
Unfortunately I think a demo will win...which one not sure. But once in office a demo will not end the war. Come 2012 that person will not be re-elected to office for brkin' the campagine 'promise' of pulling the troops out. The American ppl need to understand what is as a whole at stake there. As a demo myself if Fred Thompson enters he has my vote.

If the war in Iraq and gas prices stay status quo I would bet that a Democrat would win come November 2008.

I think that the Democrats will win but only because so many people are fed up with Bush. Whatever happens I just hope people have more sense than to elect another Clinton to the White House.
