I agree you need one - why ???? .... Too many nutters out there......
what if you get lost, what if some guy is following you or looking a bit suss. make up all these excuses for YOUR own safety.
Get a pre-paid mobile though and you promise to put the credit on it with jobs around the house etc...
That way you and your parents win !
That's my opinon - to be honest with all the crime around these days, (and kids going missing) my kids are going to have one no matter what.
Good luck in to talking your parents into it.
If not, get a afterschool job - buy one yourself and on top of that you can buy all your own trendy outfits too !

FIRST, tell them that u want a cellphone and that u'll be a good son if they let u! obviously, they'll say no first since they wont believe u! then in the following month, be really good and whenever they say, "Why son, u actually cleared the dishes today!!" u answer, "I know, Its all for the cellphone!" After, doing this continously, they'll start feeling guilty gradually, and they'll HAVE to give u a cellphone sooner or later! also, when they ask u what u want, ALWAYS say cellphone so they get it through their thick heads!

my friend just got one (and she is about to go into the 10th grade)
are you about to start driving?
u can always say that u need one if u break down some where...
it works if ur going to be riding with teenage drivers...
u need a way to get ahold of them if u break down
and like u said...
to call them and ask them if u can go ___ if plans change
or just to call and say ok mom/dad im out of the movie and im on my way home
and they can check up on u anytime they need to...
try doing it a responsible way and looking up different cellphone plans... i know its a pain but suggest getting prepaid for a while to show them that u can be responsible (i had to deal with prepaid for a few years) Virginmobile is great for that
or depending on ur area MetroPCS might be a good option too... im on that now and its $56 with tax for the unlimited plan -- unlimited any time min. so u never run over and unlimited txts/pic txt
its great...
just do some research and present it in a good manner... and dont throw a fit if they say no... wait a few months and try again
txting in class is never a good reason btw -- unless its to ask them something important...

You don't need one until you start driving, sorry, live with it. It won't be the end of the world, I promise you'll make it through...
If you're completely desparate go out and buy one, pay for the phone, pay for the two year plan, and make all the payments... I'm sure your parents would be fine with that, and it would teach you responsibility.

A cell phone is a privilege, not a necessity. I had one in high school but it was for emergencies ONLY. I would let my kid get one, but it would be "pay as you go." Once you use up your minutes, too bad. Unless you offer to do extra chores, or get a job, or do something to earn money to get more minutes.

you don't need one, your too young. I didn't get one until I was 20 and I'm 23 now. I made it through high school without one and so did many others. As soon as you get a job and can pay for one yourself, I'm sure your parents will see that you are responsible enough to have one.

You don't need a cell phone. Wait until you are driving and then you will actually have a valid reason to have one

Dear, bug them for a car. After the tenth time they tell you no, ask, "Well, can I at least have a cell phone?"
