Cause it's the next big thing... not everbody wants to go after the girls that have been around for the longest; new faces, new experiences. Same thing with Dallas... it's no longer considered a hicktown in Texas, but actually a national booming city growing at a rapid rate... when you start having people investing in the city (especially from outta state) it's only a matter of time before it's "the place" to be at... when you start having national renown hotels like The W and restaurants like The N9NE, the city is going somewhere... so much construction in downtown Dallas and vicinity, it's freakin booming. In the last 3-4 years we've gone from having abondoned warehouse districts to converting them to multi-million dollar highrise building residential and entertainment districts... must we say more? LOL!!

I don't - I left Texas (born and raised there) about 9 years ago. It's home, and my family is there, but it's just too damn hot!

A considerable influx of people came during the economic downturn of the 70s and 80s (especially the Regan/Bush era); the jobs in the northern US evaporated, and everybody seems to have headed to Texas. I guess they still perceive it as a better place to get a job; whether that's true, I don't know.

Personally, I like where I am - Washington state; I visit my family from time to time, but this is where I plan to stay.

I lived there for 34 years and I'm happy I moved to California 2 years ago.
Texas is too friggin' hot and there are too many conservatives.
People move there because the homes are cheap and cheaply made. Businesses move there because Texas is friendly to businesses. Their taxes are low and Texas is good at looking the other way in regards to shady business dealings. Enron, anyone?

That question is a matter of opinion. I don't want to come to Dallas. Never have and never will.
