I have had a betta for about a year now and the other day the thing was swimming around on its side and upside down, I thought for sure the thing was going to die, so I said a few kind words went to bed and got up the next morning to find that it had figured out which way was up and was swimming perfectly normal. Anyone else have this happen???

As strange as this sounds, your betta was probably constipated. Try feeding him some frozen food once or twice a week in addition to his normal foods and that will prevent it from happening again. Frozen blood worms are a very good choice, bettas love them.

Yeah, sometimes fish do that. A lot of the time, it does mean something's wrong, but sometimes they just seem to do it for no reason, especially bettas.

Sounds like a swim bladder malfunction he may have worked out on his own.

This can be caused by bloating due to overfeeding, or just constipation. Don't feed him for 2 days, and then cook a pea. Peel it, and feed him half of it.
