I'm not divorced.
But, I think good reasons would be:
You have nothing left that's good in the relationship and you feel like you are never going to be happy again. Or if they do something appallingly bad or cheat on you.
Forgiveness is really up to the individual and the situation.

I would think people just get tired of each other and just can't live together anymore. Probably so they could re-marry after the divorce. Sometimes you just fall out of love.
I can remember a song by Patty Smyth which best summarized it.
Sometimes love just aint enough.
