tonight we went to a restaurant for dinner. Well on the way in when we got to the door I saw an old couple and the woman was headed to the door and was preparing to open it for me, she was wearing the same color top as me also. I then realized, to my surprise to, that old woman was a reflection of me coming up and reaching for the door! It all happened in a split second but I just kept my humor and told my husband and we got a good laugh out of that! But it was kind of a strange feeling. LOL.

I like your tale, I often catch a glimpse of my reflection and don't recognise me, it's hard not to apologise to myself when we both reach for the same goods on supermarket shelf!

I find that time goes by too quickly. I used to get so much done when I was younger, now everything either takes at least twice as long to do, or there aren't enough hours in the day. I end up staying awake half the night then having to take a quick nap in the afternoon, but shhh, don't tell anyone.

true beauty and age are different. A beautiful soul inside a young mind in a chronological aged mouldering ungulate. At bowling a t-shirt said it all. there are many thing's I can't do anymore, especially see and hear sound's that were beautiful and color's that astound. It's hard to see the headpin, and taste the barbecue every weekend up until about a year ago. Then the last two year's, the worse came to worse, woman who were captivateing and breathtakeing suddenly were not. To this day I rue my old body not being able to do it, and that's what hurt's most of all, otherwise old age is just a pity.

I knew I was old tonight when I came flying for the Senior page because I spaced out too long listening to the ignorant, bigoted, ill-mannered kiddies on some of the other sites. I needed a breath of fresh air. Maybe the mirrors are trick ones, like in the fun house at the carnivals. That would explain that old gal I keep seeing.

Well, I haven't had that happen. For some genetic miracle I'm holding pretty good. No gray hair, and I'm still a size 10 -dress, that is, although I don't wear dresses any more. The one thing that I really like about getting older is that nothing seems to bother me much any more. Probably because I don't watch the news, in fact I don't have a tv that works except for my precious dvds. I see people getting upset about so much, and I just have to wonder. I guess I'm finally mellowed out ---waaaaaaay out, haha

A question QUOTE >>> " How to know you're getting old.? "

When you get up in the mourning and have to stand and stretch BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN WALK.

When you forget things you JUST KNEW THAT YOU WOULD REMEMBER !!!

When people have inordinate respect for you.

When you just physically CANNOT DO WHAT YOU USED TO BE ABLE TO DO.

When you have to type SHOUTING WORDS TO GET PEOPLES ATTENTION.

When you start receiving retiremint advertising.

When you start typing in typos like "mint" in words that end in "ment".

When you are so board that you sit and answer questions like this on Y and A Yahoo.

Amen Sister, Amen. just remember though " old " is a minimum of ten years older than you are. there are several 90 plus year olds where I live than can run rings around me. this makes one realize " old " may be a term we shouldn't use like we do. these folks are active and embarrass me at times because of my physical condition I have a hard time keeping up with some of them.

Well, the first sign is that everyone that used to call you by your first name has now started addressing you as Mr So and So.

You start getting a lot of junk mail for long-term care insurance, medicare supplemental ins., burial insurance, etc.

You start to get tired sooner than you did when you were younger. Your hearing starts to deteriorate. You begin to have cravings for sweet stuff; especiall chocolate.

I can relate very much. Looking in the mirror doesn't bother me because you do it everyday. What through me for a loop was when my son photographed me at a recent get together. Whoa !

Yes...sometimes I look at myself in a shop window and I can't believe that is me walking past.
And how come all of a sudden my mother's face keeps staring back at me when I look in the mirror?
Yes, the old lady in me is certainly emerging.

Yes, at times these reflections, or even some recent photographs, startle us - have I become that old? For in our minds, we are forever young. Yes, I could relate to it perfectly.
