Just go for it, you're only in middle school I'm assuming and if he turns you down, it'll be okay because when you get into college, there are tons of guys for you to meet and who will ask you out.

Ask when is friends aren't around. When hes a loner. If he has a yearbook or something you can sign say it on there. It makes it so you don't have to talk. Be up front and ask him out. Have a friend that knows him ask him if hes interested in you. Several ways of doing it.
