whats up with my ring?

i bought a sterling silver ring a couple of months ago and now its starting to change color. How do i get rid of it and prevent it from coming again?

It probably wasn't real sterling silver if it is doing that.

Get a silver cleaning cloth and rub it. Comes right off. I have several sterling pieces that do this.
