If you were to interview an Arab American Artist, what questions would you ask him/her?

Topics like cultural influences? Events? Personal experiences? Inspirations?

If you were the artist...what would you want to be asked?

I would ask why and how art was so important to them.

If I were the artist, I would prefer to be asked about a similar question that entails politics of identity as an Arab American artist.
I like the question posed to the young artists in 2005: “Why do you do artwork and what does it mean to you as an Arab American artist?”

And I like Leila Meglio's response:

“I find myself doing artwork more often when I’m feeling inspired or moved by someone else’s artwork. Also, it helps to calm me down, and sooth my nerves when I’m upset or frazzled. It’s a way for me to push out all the excess feelings and emotions on to paper. I cannot speak for others, but I think it is much the same-art is an expression of self, just as much as words and actions,”

Her cousin completely agrees “I know that for myself I draw to express something-a particularly strong mood I may be feeling at the time-or to distract myself if I’m anxious.”
