MissyMay it's not really saying that protecting kids is bad...just that somethings we did as kids you'd get yelled at for doing today... it irks me to no end to see a child not in a seatbelt/car seat but we didn't have them and still here we are....but i can understand what you're saying

This song is awesome and so true. I relate 100%, I remember being 3 years old and riding around in the front seat of the car with no car seat, and I learned to ride a bike with no training wheels, helmets or pads. I have a couple of scars on my knees but i'm no worse for the wear. I have my own kids now and I think that alot of the changes are good but there was still something so inocent about those days.

And still here we are!!!

The song is called "Different World" by Bucky Covington from American Idol. I grew up in the 50's so I can definitely relate to it. The world has changed a lot since then and prayer in school being taken out has a lot to do with it. Morals are at an all time low. We only had two TV channels and somebody had to go outside and turn the antenna to get them in clear.

I love the song, but being 16, I can't relate to some of the stuff (I did still get Daddy's belt when I misbehaved). And I think Bucky Covington is too young to relate to a lot of that stuff also.

I can and we all survived childhood.
Don't see a lot of mutants running around because of it either.
Think it's a commentary on the fact that sometimes things are carried to extremes.
Besides, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, plus I think it helps in developing some common sense.

Don't like this song really. I don't know...it just kinda hits a spot in me that I can't explain why. Maybe cuz it makes seatbelts and helmets and protecting children are bad things.
