What kind of man (husband, father, player, teacher, rolemodel, friend, rocker, joker, storyteller...) are you?

I've had my lady friends--different ones at different times--tell me I'd make a good teacher, that I am a good storyteller, and only a *mediocre* sort of player (that I take "the game" too personally).

But I haven't been *aiming* to be any of those things.

I have wanted an odd sort of contradiction all my life. When I was younger, all I wanted was to "fit in" and "be normal" because I didn't fit in and had so many labels to outgrow and disprove as I got older: prodigy, genius, autistic, trailer trash, speech impaired, momma's boy, and on and on....

And don't get me wrong, a part of me gets really lonely and still wants to "fit in" and belong and be accepted.

But. For most of my adult life and the tail end of my teen years--starting in my late teens and early 20s--I've been the diehard non-conformist. I've had to be to survive. If I was forced to care what others thought of me, it would have driven me to madness and death.

So I've been in the struggle to be a *Visionary*: to be that heroic someone who comes in from the dark and forbidden places with *tales and wisdom* from The Great Beyond to tell.

And you know what? It sucks. It's a lonely road to take and folks just *won't* understand you.

So in the end....I think I'd just settle for being a better friend. Or at least having more good friends, you know?

Friend, Role Model because I'm going to be a cop so I play by the rules. I try to live by the Golden Rule which is that one "treat others how you would want them to treat you".
