Find the mean and the variance of this

p = .7 and n = 70

I figured out the mean, np = 49
How do you find the variance??
the formula for variance = npq
but what is q?

please explain as ur solving. thanks

(Normal approximation to the binomial probability distribution)
μ = np
σ^2 = npq where q = 1-p

So the variance is 70(0.7)(0.3) = 14.7.
