Book: Angels and Visitations by Neil Galltian
Short story: Chivalry
This women finds the Holy Grail. A knight in armor comes looking for it. Finally he convinces her to turn it over to him. Later that week she goes back to the place where she found it and sees something else there.
"...found a tarnished old silver container with a long spout.
It has writing carved along the side in blocky old Chinese characters, and an elegant arching handle. "It's a lamp." There was a small metal finger-ring, unornamented, tied to the handle of the lamp with brown twine.
Question: What is the object and what exactly is on it (small metal finger-ring.)
Anyone know?

It could be Aladdin's Lamp, you know the one with the genie inside.

It is an oil lamp, to light up the area where someone is light up their path. Put the ring on to hold the lamp.
