The troops who spent June 6th 1944 on the water and then after being sick from the waves rushing onto the shores of an occupied France were some of the finest human beings the world has ever produced.
My cousin was in a house in Normandy when a shell hit and blew it up. Everyone but him was instantly killed (most of them completely disappeared). Dave has problems to this day from what he saw that terrible week.
He is one of the nicest people in our family, and it is so sad that someone like him had to put the rest of their life on hold to protect freedom for a mostly ungrateful world.
If you love freedom, thank a soldier. They are the ones who secured liberty with their blood and sacrifice.

The fortieth anniversary of D-Day got here approximately to be the summer whilst i became sixteen. I had ordinary approximately D-Day earlier, of path, yet for some reason, in all probability via fact it became a great anniversary, i for my section paid interest to it that 12 months. that replaced my existence. I actual have via fact grow to be a woman. I actual have examine infinite books on WWII, and an incredible style of on Normandy. I actual have considered action pictures and documentaries. I actual have even borrowed particularly imprecise books from the library so i'm able to learn the stories of adult males who have been there. and with the aid of all of it, my emotions have remained the comparable. i think a profound sense of gratitude, coupled with finished awe. all in the process the 12 months of 2001, I subscribed to a weekly information mag. the difficulty following September eleventh of that 12 months became a particular all with regard to the terrorist assaults. there became a sentence which fairly struck me, and that i desire I had written it down. the final essence became that we tend to think of of heroes as people who do some thing extensive and alter the international, yet that frequently the boldest heroism is composed in purely doing all your job, and working right into a burning development whilst individuals are working out. properly, i think of it is genuine, yet I even have yet another definition of heroism. To me, a hero is a guy who gets off a touchdown craft and maintains to push upward on a sea coast, even with the rounds zipping previous his head, scaling down the adult males close to him. he's a guy who can stress his legs to hold him forward whilst each fiber of his being is telling him to run and conceal via fact adult males all around him are being blown to bits. he's a guy who pushes onward, understanding finished properly that he would under no circumstances get off that sea coast. he's a guy who gave the main worthwhile ingredient he had so as that i'd properly be unfastened. that's what i think of roughly on D-Day. Heroes.

Thank you, Sunshine for putting this out there. D-Day was the very essence of "We're not gonna take it, anymore!". And we stood up to the evil in this world. I feel it's getting time for Americans to have their own D-Day at Election time. We should rush the voting Booths in numbers. And show Washington that "we're gonna take it anymore!"

Today in my history class my teacher put a movie on D-Day. It was a documentary about the lives of the soldiers. It made me feel so sorry for the families that lost their sons, their fathers, and their friends.

I think of courage. Those men were cut from a different cloth. Some men actually committed suicide if they were not accepted into the military because they didn't have the privilege to defend our country.

My thoughts are that I am very thankful for my freedom and I owe a debt of gratitude to those who sacrificed all to secure that freedom. One nation under God.

I agree with you. Our troops deserve all of the love and support we can give. If it weren't for them we wouldn't have the freedom we enjoy today.
