I don't even think this country has another 10 years of being a "super power."

China owns us by a chokehold right now...what the question should be is what is a super-power.
We're still the richest government in the world...
OK, so now what...
China and India will take us over economically very soon, sooner than anyone realizes...Europeans are passing us up by years in education...we won't even learn Spanish because we're so angry that Mexicans speak it...the Middle East controls huge parts of our economy...Our closest neighbors in Latin America hate how we bully them around and are basically done with us...The world is learning how to work with each other without us.
I think most countries realize we'll sell them down the river (pardon my allusion to our own sordid past) at any moment...remember when we used to support Taiwan because it was a democracy and downed China because it was a communist country...what happened to that? We sold out...Taiwan is a democracy, but China has more money....simple decision.
We're gonna be passed in almost area, out military has rivals, our economy has rivals, our education system is already way behind, and best of all, we aren't even educated enough to know that we're already not the superpower in most ways.
I give us until about exactly 2025, good guess.
We'll be passed by China militarily, technologically, economically, etc., and the EU will be the bastian of democracy that we always thought we were, because they're actually trying to live and work together politically, a concept that we forgot a long time ago.

Does a bear Shiite in the woods? That being said, the only thing that could usurp the US is the US themselves. As a nation we have to stop apologizing to ne'er do wells for our success and determination to remain successful. Countries like China and Russia are far behind the US in technology. The strength of the US is technology, always was, always will be.
Some people believe Japan came up with new technology and surpassed the US. Please. Japan, on occasion, perfected US technology, never surpassed it.

It may well, but it will have some competition from Russia and China.
With a level of diplomacy missing now, the US may well be able to have good relations and do business with both countries to our mutual betterment. If not, we can revert back to the cold war, or worse.
That may take a lot more sophisticated political thinking than what you see on the talk shows, for example.

Yes. The reality, in spite of certain appearances, is that the superpower status will remain for a while. Only long-term growth in other nations will shift that balance. It is too soon to tell if China, Japan, or any other country will reach the same level of dominance in the next 30-50 years. Economic superiority is only one aspect to be considered.
Still, the US needs to do some shifting of priorities. We're to the point where we use our Department of Defense to support just about every one of our international policies. The State Department should be more autonomous, but it is just not big enough. Thanks to the Cold War we've built our DOD too big, too fast, and too greedy.

By 2025, there should roughly be parity among US, China, and India...with the U.S. eventually losing out to the 2 other far more populous countries. To forestall our decline, we need to grow quickly. The best way would be a North American Union (and extensions southward as needed).

China is up and coming and spends a huge amount of it's national revenue on it's military (much financed by our need of cheap manufactured goods ). They have their eyes upon our rich farmland , abundant water and material wealth.
I would bet we start knocking heads with them in the near future.
Taiwan will be the lynch pin.
