Dont forget. Pippen was a playmaker who averaged point-guard like assists and grabbed 7+ boards, and even averaged 20+ points in a season, while blocking and stealing.
Shawn Marion, however, is not a playmaker, and neither is Tayshaun.
and Pippen was a little more than a Jack of all trades.

Tayshaun is, however, a better passer than Marion.

Lamar Odom - Kobe's trusty sidekick. He can rebound well, dish out assists and shoot 3's, though I wonder if he'll be around next season.

I like the Caron Butler answer. I also like DWade, though shorter, he has a versatile offensive game, and he gets a lot of steals. LeBron doesn't have the D, and he's more like MJ and Pip combined, anyway. GHill is too old, Brandon Roy is stuck in Portland so I haven't seen him. Tayshaun Prince might be closest, jack of all trades at both ends of the floor, not really the best at anything. My answer, Tayshaun.

Shawn Marion is the closest thing to Pippen.
> He knows his role and plays it well. Doesn't take too much shots. he just gives what the team needs from him.
> He doesn't own the spotlight. He leaves it to his other superstar teammates.
> Provides the so-called "intangibles" for the team.
> He doesn't just score, he rebounds, he defends, he passes but shoots when neccessary.
> He's a team player which holds the team-together. Very Pippen-like.
> He's a kind of a role-playing star in his team. Just like Pippen.

LOL, its funny people said Prince, and Marion both got the ugliest jumpers, yet, both I would take on my team in a second. They play D, play O, don't ever complain if they dont get the ball, Get their PG open, and guard whoever and their mama on the court. Caron B is nice also, but I say hes just a half foot back from them, but all 3 are very nice.

With the current crop of Players the closest thing to Pippen would be Joah Howard & Caron Butler.

Raja Bell.
Plays with a big scorer Nash. Does a good job on defense
and is tough, passes well, and keeps the team under control
when the star is on the bench. Also just like Pippen is way
under rated. He is not physically similar but his game and
personality is, as well as his role on the team.

I agree that Shawn Marion plays that type role, I also like Rashard Lewis of the Sonics.

On offense, it's gotta be Lebron James. Lebron is a good passer and ballhandler and he plays the position Pippen made famous - the "point forward". However, Lebron is far from being Pip on defense. No one in the NBA comes close to Pippen's defense except perhaps Bruce Bowen.

Shawn Marion. Butler is a good defender, but Marion is an all-league defender, much like Pip was in his heyday.

Tracy McGrady. He's just a tad more offensively skilled but other than that he's got the skillset to be an absolute Pippen clone.

Lamar Odom has all the potential in the world to be it but does not want to fill those shoes with his inconsistancy. So i would also have to say Caron Butler... too bad the Lakers traded Butler for that panty-waste Kwame Brown.
