The first two are linear equations. The last one is a quadratic equation (equation that is not linear):

(2/x) - 4 = 3x
(2 - 4x)/x = 3x
-4x + 2 = 3x^2
3x^2 + 4x - 2 = 0

You can anyway tell that they're all equations since they equal something.
