I am refering to an emotional, mental rut rather than a financial rut. It's like one is trapped, but one does not know how to get out.

An emotional, mental rut has causes. If you can name them, then you can start assessing how much of the causes can be taken away.

It's absolute folly to make yourself think you are in control all the time, because that'll make you feel inapt and even more depressed in the end. There are things part of life or demands of society. Anyone claimbing to have 100% control over their own 'causes' should get their heads checked out. It just isn't so. Also don't think too lightly about your mental state. It is not like a lightswitch you can just turn on or off. If you do not process some of it, it'll get harder the next time you get into a rut.

I don't know, I've seen that I can't take away all the things that bogg me down through the years. If I ignore them I get ill, if I encounter them with a weird sense of humor it seems to work out. All depends on what's ultimately the cause.

Yes. Your life is in your hands. It is never hopeless.

You can choose to be happy. You climb out of your rut by choosing to do so.

You are sitting in your room crying, feeling lost & helpless. You say to yourself "Stop it! Get out of this!" Then you physically get up & go outside. Get some fresh air. Get some sunshine (vitamin D, it helps). Take a walk in the woods or by the lake or in a garden or local park, somewhere pretty, somewhere that reminds you it's a beautiful world. Remind yourself that there is a whole world out there, that nature is wondrous & worth living for. Take the focus off you & put it on the outside world. Breathe deeply. Relax. Then make a plan. What do you want your life to be? What makes you happy? Then make at least one small step toward that.

Ok, so if your goal is to be an artist. Maybe buy a paint brush, a canvas, some paint. If your goal is to be an artist, take a cooking class.

Whether your rut is emotional, mental or financial, it is you that must choose to climb out. It may not be easy, but it can be done. Bit by bit you find your way out. Learn to think positive. Learn to treat yourself better. You are never trapped. You are your own prisoner. You always hold the key.

I can tell you that not only is it possible, it is actually the most likely outcome. Depression is very treatable and you should not hesitate to ask for help. If the pain is tolerable and you just want a principle by which you can measure some progress in your life, then examine what you value and ask yourself why you value it. It may be that you need to change some of your actions to match what you value. If you think that pleasure is the most important thing, are you sad because you are not being pleased enough? If you think philosophy is important, maybe you aren't asking enough questions of yourself or those you care about? Anyway, you will do what you think will do you good.

It's all in how you cope. You can think you're a victim of circumstance or you can CHOOSE to do something about whatever it is that put you in a rut. The hardest part is choosing to do something rather than nothing. Change the way you think, change your life.

definitely, each and every physique is judging without each and every of the data. might desire to we've pulled the olympics out of the states? confident i comprehend i visit get pummeled for this, yet we are no longer precisely the main "dazzling" u . s . in the international. We pretend to agonize approximately human rights, yet what approximately Guantanamo Bay? And what approximately conserving the video games in Japan? in the previous they have had the main grotesque human actual violations that it sickens me to even think of approximately it... however the super element concerning the olympics (and it fairly is precisely what's happening now) is that it facilitates differences. because of the fact the olympics are coming to China.. the tibetans are rebelling... actual whilst the eyes are all on China. This merely pressures China into changing. So i think of for my section, that its a sturdy element its going to China, in order that as that a minimum of now that u . s . is being scrutinized and being forced to alter its techniques. i'm under no circumstances asserting that China is a rustic that follows human rights, i comprehend for my section what cruelties the government inflicts on say... the falong gong, yet a minimum of now the the remainder of the international sees it greater advantageous too and could make their very own judgements. And ... yet another section be conscious... its kinda late to tug out isnt it? merely questioning.

dramatic problems call fo dramatic actions.

usually one defines whats going on around them with their identity - who they are. If you change things around you - you become a different person and have different frame of mind.

Also you have to add context. if your sad because you spoiled your milk - you might not care if you hit the lottery and hit the jackpot. Then you might trow the whole jug.

sometimes we are haded "cards" in life we cannot refute, like we might miss a loved one. but we can choose to not let it define who we are.

Also sometimes we are where we are - but life might mean that our children might cure cancer. Does it matter how we feel about ourselves?

Find others who can contribute and support them if you can't do the right thing for yourself. Or make a change in scenery - emotionally or otherwise. Mix it up. Be good.
