Westboro Baptist is doing a good job on their own of making themselves irrelevant & despised. They previously picketed the funerals of gay people and, due to many people being homophobic, they did not get much attention outside of the gay community.
Now that this so called church is picketing funerals of deceased US soldiers many people outside of the gay community are seeing that they are nothing more than a group of people who thrive on hatred.
Westboro Baptist only wants to spread hatred, and the more they spread this hatred the more opposition they will face.

As much as I hate to say this. They have rights guaranteed in the US Constitution to believe any way they want. To attempt to "get rid of" would be a violation of those rights.
Where it crosses the line is if they take those rights and by violence try to impose their beliefs on others.
To violate their constitutional rights makes you as bad as them.
Sorry. That is the way it is.
On the other hand when someone comes here to Yahoo!Answers they must abide by the community standards and hatred and racism is a violation of those standards and they can and are removed.

They are called the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech and they are a basic right guaranteed by the Constitution of Thes United States. Unfortunately, they don't differentiate between sound reasoning and thinking with ones derriere, such as the church in question clearly does-- it is called the Gospel of the Buttcheeks.

They claim to preach from the Bible, but they seem to have passed over Luke 6:37. They judge, condemn, and lack forgiveness, therefore they will be judged, condemned, and will lack forgiveness. They crave attention, just like any other cult. Ignore them and they'll realize that their opinions have no merit.
........If i saw them protesting, I would probably cast the first stone...lol
Keep an hear out for Fred Phelps to pass away so we can picket.

Saying that amounts to blasphemy, so ironically they will be the ones in Hell. Not sure if that gives you much comfort, but they're just misguided folks who have to take their hatred for themselves out on others.

I suppose an AK 47 fully automated might work, but I do not advocate that. I think fire bombs during church services might work, but I do not advocate that. I suspect that acting up ...seriously acting up in front of the church, picketing every service might draw heavy media attention, and that is NOT a bad thing. I think that every funeral they have should be picketed with loud mouthed gays screaming anti religious things, signs, etc...treat them as they treat others...sort of an eye for an eye thing...that is in their bible, not mine.

I beleive in God but not organized religion. I beleive everyone has the right to practice religion but that ends with them trying to tell me what do do. I think God wants us to practice our faith and be charitable and good to others--not hate others and be mean to them.

Well, in this evening's news, there is this story about Shirley Phelps-Roper being arrested. That's a good start:
