I already have Evil Dead 1 and 2, both in the book of the dead versions and I love it I cant complain about it. I love Army of Darkness but I dont know which verson to get, I once had the bootleg directors cut and I was very disapointed. The picture was too grainy and there wasnt any special features worth noting to keep around. Ive heard lot of people say that the boomstick verson is the better one but Ive also heard that it wasnt any better dispite 2 discs. Another thing is I dont even know if they are going to make it into a 3rd book of the dead edition like the other 2 films, if they do that would be the obvious one that I would buy. My questions are which DVD verson is better and does anybody know if they are going to do a book of the dead edition soon? They've got too right if there other two films are in that edition?

It is the Boomstick version, if you don't have it already

.....I'm of the opinion that despite the numerous versions of "Army of Darkness" released by both Universal Home Video and Anchor Bay Entertainment, there STILL has to eventually be a definitive AOD fan version, yet to be produced and released; there are scenes, and there is dialog from one version, which are different from the others, yet the best of these scenes, and pieces of dialog, have not been incorporated into as I mentioned, a definitive version.

Point in case: I absolutely loved the director's cut, with Sam Raimi's original intended ending, where Ash's oversleeps in the cave, and awakens too far into the future; however, it doesn't contain one of my favorite lines, which is in the theatrical version.

"Good...Bad...I'm the one with the gun!!!" (from the theatrical version)

versus

"I'm not THAT good!!!" (from the director's cut).

This is just one example, though; despite Anchor Bay's overkill in releasing so many versions of the film on DVD, I would still welcome a definitive fan-based edition.

In the meantime, I'm inclined to lean toward the director's cut, as my favorite.....and yes, if Anchor Bay DOES release a 'book of the dead' edition of AOD, I would probably be the first in line to get (suckered into) it!!!
