Anyone have tips on how to deal with being uncomfortable due to gas/constipation?

I'm constantly hungry, but whenever I eat, I feel really full after only a few bites, and I know it's because I'm constipated. After I eat I end up with horrible indigestion and heart burn and get kind of crampy and bloaty. Sometimes I end up throwing up because of the whole thing...

Is there anything I can do to help get rid of it or lessen the effects? I can't drink water because it makes me throw up, regardless of whatever else is going on. So I can't exactly drink lots of water to help with constipation. Is there anything else I can do? Fiber pills maybe?

Does this go away at all? I feel like there's no end in sight =(

Ugggh I know exactly what you're feeling. It's the endless stomach cycle of early pregnancy. I go from starving to eating to feeling bloated to feeling sick and then starving all over again!

My midwife told me simethicone ("gas x") is safe for pregnancy and it helped with my bloating. You might also take a few Beano tablets with whatever food you eat to lessen gas and bloating. Acidopholus tablets taken daily are also good for bowel health.

When all else failed I would take a few spoonfuls of Maalox Plus. I kept in the fridge so it was nice and cold.

If you are going to add fiber, I would try adding it in your diet to go easy on your system. Can you eat stuff like bran muffins? Or maybe just munch on dry whole grain cereal? Everything General Mills makes is whole grain now, even tasty ones like Golden Grahams!

Sorry you are feeling so bad, hon.

I'm thirteen weeks and have the same problem...I bought some Philips milk of Magnesia stool softener pills...they are supposed to be safe when pregnant and do offer some relief, also if you get too uncomfortable you can buy fleet enemas and give them to yourself (occasionally) gross I know, but you gotta do what ya gotta do. Good luck and congrats!!!

Lay on your stomach to help you to relieve your gas and you may want to look into metamucil or colace.

If you are not going after a couple of days I would consult your Dr.

good luck.

My doctor suggested a stool softener for me while I was pregnant and taking an iron supplement. I would definitely inquire about it.

i would try eating lots of fruits and veggies, if you can. also, cereal full of fiber would work. drink juice when you feel like your tummy can take it and try to get up and moving.
