No, there is a difference between collecting and intending for personal use. I would like to see someone try to kill a deer or a bear while hunting with a katana or a tanto wearing a full samarai outfit.

Purists are generally insecure outside extremely narrow parameters.
Samurai carried guns, as well. The Zen of becoming one with the weapon and hitting the intended target is still there.

it would only be disgraceful if your intention is to hurt someone by collecting those stuffs. it's like collecting different toys when we were young. if some one tells you that it's disgraceful, he just want to have some of your collection.
