It is very appropriate to do so. I think that the name Carter William is a strong name. Many people name their child after a loved one and even though your second son will carry the name of your first son it is still showing respect for your first child. Good luck on your new baby and so sorry for your lost.

I actually have a son named Carter James and he is so sweet. I think you would be fine naming him Carter William, but I wouldn't tell him about his brother's death. At least not until he is old enough to really understand. You can't let him know about it b/c Carter would feel like he didn't have his own idenity. I mean you are giving him a name involved with your previous child!
Sorry and congrats!

Sorry about the loss which will always be in your heard. The respect you have for the memory of your first born is commendable, but it your memory and not Carter's.
Is William a special family name? Otherwise I would not recommend you "saddle" the child with the association of a losing sibling. Did you ever hear Elvis talk about his "dead brother."?
This is a new person and should have his "new" name. Carter is so beautiful, find a nice middle name that is his and only his.

Well obviously you loved William--and you still do, right? I think that you should name your son Carter William Stavis, in honor of your new baby and William

Your question gave me goosebumps I think that would be such a great thing to do, this way he will grow up with part of his brother with him. I cant imagine what you are going thru and I pray for all the best for you, Good Luck.
PS can u have ultrasounds to see how his heart is at the moment. That might calm u down and leave you alot more positive.

You poor dear. I am so sorry for your loss.
Absolutely you may name him Carter William. I have friends who lost their four year old son after years of surgeries. They later had twins and named the twin boy the same as their first son. The sentiment is beautiful.
Congratulations and my thoughts and prayers are with youand your family.

although personally it will be a constant reminder for both of you, I do think it is a nice way to keep the memory. Generations ago if there was a loss of a child the next baby of the same sex to be born would get the same name, myself I think that is a bit of a jinx weather from natural causes or not.
congratulations on your new addition.
