I sort of see the concept of destiny as a way to avoid taking responsibility. Making your own destiny, definitely.

You make your own destiny, because your daily actions determine the direction you will be taking. We are walkers in the life making our way. with each action you approach to a result that can be full of joy if you do the right thing, so if you do something wrong the result will be hard consequences and the sum of all results of your daily actions determines the destiny that you are taking and for what you are destined for: Succes or Sadness! You make your way everyday!

I do not believe in "luck" or "fate" or "destiny". I do believe in "chance" meaning sometimes things just happen. For the most part I think that each decision we make every day "shape" what form our lives take.
Making "positive" ones cause good things to happen in our lives.
Making "negative" choices usually bring us only grief in some fashion.
