Ok so I have an African Dwarf frog in my tank. I am pretty sure they breathe oxygen so I was think could I evovle my frog? I know that for it to live it must not dry out so I would like to prove it with moisture other then just a tank of water. I also know that when you are in water you are lighter and so the frog may have a hard time because it has weaker muscles that work under water and not on land. I think that if I slowly make it have less water then it will possibly adapt. What are your thouhts on this? Is there anything I have over looked?

A comment on the muscles!
It has a lot to do with the muscles, when you are in water you use less strength. If live in water your entire life you will have weaker muscles!

On the drying out factor.....
my frog doesn't seem to dry out as quickly you guys are saying. I understand that it may dry or well it will. I would like to set up a tank with humidity control. for example a tree frog needs specific humidity it will die as well I think that I can keep a consistant moisture in the tank it may work.

No, I'm sorry, that will not work. The dwarf frogs are purely aquatic, even though they do require air from the surface. When fully exposed to air, they literally dry up, very quickly. It doesn't have anything to do with their muscles, they are just a species that has to live in water 100% of the time.

The African Clawed frog is the same way, they have to be kept under water. They are much bigger, and will poke more of their body out of the tank, but purely aquatic. They dry out as well, it just takes a little longer for them.

Hope this helps!

All I can assume is that you have fairly the same type of underwater frog that I did. I had an Albino African Clawed Frog. It was the highlight of my aquarium. I had it for seven years until something went horrible in my tank, and I lost all of my fish that I had for so long--It was strange--Anyway, you are allowed to play with them outside of the water, but they definitely need water. they are happier and content while swimming in the water. If you want a frog to play with on land, you need to get a frog that will do so, an aquatic frog is just that--a "water" frog. They can dry out and die!!!!

Sorry but no that won't work. They are adapted to life in the water and it would take many, many generations of frogs to adjust them to a purely land based life form.
