both are equally important. if I understand you but you cannot understand me then how can we communicate logically.

There's allot of great answers before me, I would rather understand however there are times I wish I would be understood. Someone answered earlier that if you understand first it enables you to be understood and I agree with that, for without understanding how to articulate a specific point first, you'll never be understood. Someone said that same thing in a previous answer and I think that statement hit the nail on the head. I'm impressed by the level of integrity some of you folks display, it gives me hope.

Thats a very good question...and I'm not sure which one I would rather have/be...I guess I would rather understand (I wouldn't want to walk around looking confused all the time), but there are times I wish I was just understood ( I hate it when people look at me like I'm stupid when I'm trying to tell them something that I actually know)

It depends if you care what others think...if you do...then I guess its better to be understood. If you dont, I guess its better to understand.
You can do many great things and not be understood. But if you do not understand anything, you are very limited. Understand?

understand ,i think its better to understand a person so once they get to know you ,you are understood.
