I just got my New 2007 Harley Sportster 1200c there is a light on the odometer that is a #6 I asked the dealer about it when i got the bike he said that it is for when i am in the 6th gear it will come one to let me know. I tried to go into 6th gear and there only seems to be five. HELP ? Is there really 6 gears on this bike or do i have to reach a certain speed for this to kick on?

Just like Don B said. The speedometer/odometer is also used on a couple of the Dyna models, which do have a 6 speed. The salesman should have known as much and been able to tell you that.

The 2007 Sportsters have 5-speed transmissions. The speedo's face is also used on some Dynos, which have 6-speeds

To my understanding they only have 5 gears. One down and four up... That light might be there to let you know that you are missing your six sense!!! I can't believe you bought a cruiser with out knowing the specs.

Please, read your owner's manual.
The 6-speed went into the Dynas in '06. You probably have a 5-speed (I don't know). The little book will tell you.

I have 6 gears, and NO light.
