This isn't kinky at all, and the people who claim it is outrageous and unheard of are mistaken.
Women take "trophies" all the time. When a woman wears her man's button-down shirt, or boxers, for example, she is advertising the fact that she had sex with him, (and that she liked it...)
It can be a similar motivation for a man. There is also a curiosity involved. A woman can wear men's boxers, even briefs, and no one will question her. If a man has any curiosity about how hosiery feels (as an example) he faces being labelled as gay. The only "safe" place for him to satisfy this curiosity in in the arms of a lover.
We all, men AND women, have masculine and feminine aspects.

Okay, to the person that answered, if that's how you really talk/type, perhaps you really shouldn't be offering too much advice. Plus they were asking why they let the men WEAR their panties. I'm not sure your average male goes to his friends and pulls down his pants, going, "LOOK WHAT I JUST SCORED."
As for the question at hand, it's probably not necessarily a new trend, but it's probably considered sexy to people involved. I don't necessarily see the point myself, but whatever floats their boat. To each, their own. :)

Well I do crossdress..however before I told one girlfriend she did get me to wear her knickers (panties) and nightdress in bed!
I have always had a kinda hairless body!
She loved it..so did I!...LOL
