What can I do if I think the windows connection manager componet is missing

Put your Windows XP cd in the cd drive wait until it asks if you would like to repair. When it does, click yes. This will open the repair console. At the prompt, type chkdsk /r. There is a space between the k and the r. Let it run, it takes awhile.
