Tyler Perry is very talented and I commend him for growing his "brand", but the first show was a little rough, It wasn't very funny and I'm not a big Madea fan. The second half hour was a little better.
I saw a few of the episodes he aired in test markets last year, so it was hard for me to follow at first, because Allen Payne's father is now his uncle and his wife had not left him yet, but you are seeing the signs of her drug abuse. I think the show will become more interesting when it starts to focus more on Allen Payne who is the star of the show.

I am very disappointed... I was hyped about it, I actually set a reminder and chose to watch the premier over my FAVORITE show So You Think...Dance.
I love Madea (although I prefer the plays over the movies), but I have to admit, it is getting a little redundant. I thought the show might actually be good, but it only took me 5 minutes to figure out otherwise... at least I was able to tune in to SYTYCD without missing too much.
You know a show is bad when the live audience is not even laughing. There was a lot of silence in the background.. I thought there was supposed to be a crowd hyper-upper-person for shows recorded before a live audience.
Oh well.....I too will tune back in later in the season for maybe a few minutes to see if the show has gained some momentum, but until then.... Can't watch it.

i loved tyler perry's show on tbs it's cool and hilarious but brings family problems too. I hope they show more of allen payne and the son of the father. Also Madea cuz you can't get enough of her. I think as the show progresses you'll enjoy it more.

OMG, I was thinking the same thing. I love Tyler Perry but I did not chuckle not one bit so I changed the channel.
It is really too bad since there isn't that many comedy television shows that feature people of color.
Let's hope for the best!

I agree, I think Tyler Perry best stick to the big screen. TV show is not funny. I was looking forward to it too.

Deals on the number of episodes really means little if the ratings tank. Give it about four more episodes and after that it'll be a waste of time if it doesn't get any better.

i watched it & LOVED it... we laughed & laughed. because i came to be a fan of Mr. Perry's through his plays, i enjoyed seeing some of those folks.
i loved how he intermingled the cast. i liked seeing KeKe & Madea, as her foster mom, like in the movie.
i think having Allen as their nephew instead of the SON works. plus neither the son or Allen are bad to look at... (smile)
i watched both epi's last night & will watch or DVR all future episodes.

It appeared too similar to the plays. "We" expect something different in the plays; the television show has no crossover appeal and lacks true humor. If he doesnt hire a team of writers now and quickly, its over.
