I have pretty much decided to throw in the towel. Everyone my age has so much baggage and ex's and kids and all the stuff from old relationships. I am really sick of it, so I am planning on just not dating or having intimacy anymore. Do you think I will manage with that decision ok?

I was divorced when my youngest of 2 was 11 months old. I raised them by myself and have had a lot of changes in my life. I have nothing to do with their dad. I dont want to socialize with him or whine about how bad he treated me. It was over a long time ago.
I make a very good living and I do not want to support a man who is cheap because of his child support payments.
I also dont want to be used for sex. I am very young at heart. I have a great figure, great hair. my own beautiful whilte smile, my own teeth for god sakes and think I have it goin on, but not up to being someone elses door mat and hear about their failed marriage while they are having intimacy with me.

If you mean that you have resolved to take the time to know what you really want in a man, then I think that is beautiful and necessary, because w/o it, you will repeat the former decision making. You may find this to be your most productive relationship period of all. Now about the sex and dating thing, I think you will know in a profound way when and who is right and deserving as well as desirous to you, because it seems that for the first time, you are no longer equating being with someone with the "progression to sex", and this is powerful!!! Too many "dating" people think that sex is an activity, or just something to do, and they derive limited pleasure because of it. To build up to a man, in his and your most pure essence is an art, that starts with, simple self respect/esteem as well as self consideration. that's the option you always can / will have
it is far easier for a women to have sex than a man
all you have to do is post an ad

most will have been divorced by then
hence the baggage that comes with them
you'll rarely find anyone without baggage, but they are out there
trouble is guys like that are dating younger women

That depends on how important intimacy and sex are to you. When I was your age I was celibate for a while. I was newly divorced and generally pissed at men. That passed and I met my current hubby who is nothing like the men I used to know. I'm glad I didn't throw in the towel.

Yes i think I will because you might end up lonely and depress. just because your friends have baggage that doesnot mean you will then again birds of a feather flock together.
I would not give up on love and having an happy family. I think now older women are starting a family later in their life. So you can find love and its never too late

Nope I do not miss it at all. The same reasons you listed are on my list too. People are a trip and I want no part of their problems and drama. You'll be just fine, who needs all that crap in their lives?
