I got a '03 Grand Am GT Coupe about a month ago. No problems except for tonight. The lights that come on when you open the door, won't turn off when the doors are all shut. The trunk is shut too. Any idea of what could be wrong?

If I take the light bulbs out, will it still take power away from the battery?

another grand am horror story! there full of electrical gremblins, make sure the switch on the mirror light is off and if that doesn't work there is a electrical plug in that goes to the mirror on the back of the mirror, just pull the plug out until you can get it fixed and your battery will be fine.

There is a switch for leaving the light on, off, and on only when the doors are opened. Look for this switch and check the setting. If you remove the light bulbs, but the switch is still on, your battery will eventually die (a similar thing happened to my 90 Olds a long time ago) because the electrical load is still there. The switch is usually by the light.

Question? Are the lights under the mirror map lights? If so try to turn them off there should be two bottons next to the lights. If they still stay on you can remove the bulbs if no other lamps are on your battery will not drain.
