Life is a gamble with extreme consequences at times. Your intentions were good, as you were doing it for other people and that means you are a magnanimous individual. Unfortunately, this means that you are taking the risks instead of other people. This is a lot to bear. Think of it this way. Your good job that paid well just downsized you due to a buyout or budget restraints. What would the outcome be? You would have to move on. The hardest things in life are the most uncomfortable, miserable phases that we must pass before improvements can be found. You should take this opportunity to think of what you can do NOW to better your life. Yesterday is gone and is behind you. Look ahead and don't miss the things that are in front of you or you will always look behind and miss the obvious. Best of luck to you.

I read something once (I think its Taoist) and it works wonders when I do it which is pretty often 'cause I have a kind of crappy job.

what you do as you go throughout your day is:
be thankful for EVERYTHING from your pinky toe for the help it gives you in balancing,
to that nice lady who let you cut in traffic, to the fact that neither of your legs are broken,
to how nice it was that your hair did what it was supposed to this morning

and say to your self all day long,
"I am so lucky because________"
and fill in the blank with every little thing you can think of

THIS REALLY WORKS !!!
I have been able to change the whole way I look at life and now I am a very happy person (more so than 90% of the rest of the world I think)

Whenever I lose control of my thoughts, I get bloodwork done and go to a nutritionist. B vitamins seem to help a LOT with controlling or dismissing recurring thoughts, and a little daily exercise might help you, too.

I was an expat also, and I found the men just dreamy. Maybe you should take up teaching English as a foreign language, and meet someone newly arrived . . .

Many people made the same 'mistake' you did. My advice is to stop looking in the past and thinking of what could of been. That was the past, this is the future. Something comes up and you make a decision; it may be the 'right' decision or 'wrong' decision. Life is always full of choices, you'll get another chance to make the 'right' choice. That's how life is and will always be. So I suggest you move on.

God want you back for a reason. Relax. There will be better opportunity now or in the future. The past does not exist in reality, it's only recorded in our memories. And there's nothing you can do to go back to the past. Live in the present! Plan for the future.

Hey! Minus the guy part I did the same thing. You know where we messed up? We did it for other people's sakes. I'm not depressed. I'm just a little angry. Nothing to be ashamed of, though. Life goes on.

well tips i dont have but comfort and advice i do.
for starters it was only by fate that you chose to come back there for u were probably not destined 2 be with that guy any way. The fates im sure have good plans for u but the only way those plans can continue is if you live your life looking forward to the next day

you never really realized when you make a mistake, only after you make it... know you could throw your life living in the past...

try to chase after what you had, which will never be the same...

try to make the best...with the cards life dealt you....

treat your self with love and understanding...

instead of going on a binge, trying to drown your sorrow...

buy yourself a classic car...
put some love, time , care
invest some money in it...
get your hands dirty and with a little work and elbow grease
you get a result you'll be proud of it...

and trust me the car will do the rest...
it would boost up your self esteem, and pride...

you should do the same on yourself.
(put some love, time , care
invest some money on your self..)

trust me i know, i live in the past, i chased after the thing I've lost. and I've gone in binges IT'S HELL!!!

What is done is done!
If you are unhappy in your peasant situation, you need to make a plan for thew FUTURE!!
As you said, you can't go back, so go forward.
Look deep into your self and decide what YOU want to do, where YOU want to live, etc. This is your life. You only get this one, So live it to the fullest!! And live it for YOU!!

I believe that you can get it back if you really want to. Other jobs, if not the one you had still exist, and this guy still does too. Where there's a will there's a way!
