If you can see it and grab it with needlenose pliers then great! Do that.
If not then you need a tool called an extractor wire.
Like they sell here:
http://www.wedgeco.com/
Then follow these instructions as listed on ehow.com:
1 Lubricate the Lock with WD-40
to make the broken key easy to slide out of the lock.
2 Slide an extractor wire along both sides of the broken Key
in the grove's on both sides of the broken key.
3 Twist the extractor wires together to get a tight grip
on the broken piece of key.
4 Shake the extractor wires up and down as you are pulling
the broken piece of key out of the lock.

most keys are not attracted to magnets. If the key is straight up and not stuck in the left or right turn.try two picks one on each side.If no try some sticky tape or gum on the pick.If no,try some compressed air where goggles. The last thing is to pop the lock cylinder and push out from the back.

I've always used a large paper clip bent straight and then bend a small v-hook in one end and try to catch the teeth of the broken key with this hook and pull out---you may need another paper clip to hold open the little trap door on the lock cylinder. Another little tool I used at times was a broken coping saw blade---very thin and stiff and has the fine little teeth to catch the broken key with.

If just a little bit is sticking out try a pair of needle nose plyers. If not you may have to take the lock out.

Try a magnet, depending on how It's stuck, unbend a paperclip and try and push it out. If that dosen't work, call a locksmith.
