Ok. That's 2 questions, but I don't know what I'm doing. I am trying to send a zip file that's 77,000KB through yahoo and gmail and I don't know how. What do I do?

What you need to do is to use yousendit or Pando.

Get Pando from http://www.pando.com/

Upload to yousendit and let your friends download it from there at http://www.yousendit.com/

You see, single large files will time out operation in these mails.

All the best.

Cheers!

You should be able to right click the file and then choose "Compress and Email". You must have one of the compresses like "WinZip or WinRAR loaded to do this.

The other method would be to open your file compressor and click "File" and then "New Archive". Navigate to the file and click it. That should migrate the file into the compressor and archive it for you. You can then attach it to an e-mail just like you would any other file. Be aware that the person receiving your Zipped file needs to have a archiver installed so that they can decompress what you send.

for transferring large files to friends I prefer: setup an ftp server on your computer and allow anonymous login (or you can setup restricted access and require a specific login name and password, or even allow access only from specific IP). then send an email containing simply a link to download the file from your ftp server. I'd rather do this then put my files on a third party server, such as others have suggested. another option is to split the file with a different utility (I use WinRAR or the Unix split command).

OK...I would suggest using WinRAR instead of WinZip...Not only is it easier to use, but has a higher compression ratio to it!!!
You can download that here...
http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar370.exe
Now you will have to split the archives into Parts so the you can send it via email...Gmail now allows a max of 20mb (20,000,000 bytes) attachments so that has to be the limit on the parts being sent...Once you'll spit the file into these parts then you send them one at a time...
and the person that gets them has to put them back together using WinRAR on their end...
It's easier than it sounds....but once you've used it you'll see just how easy it is to use....
