It's both a Revolutionary and a Civil War. It started as largely peaceful protests against Gaddafi's regime, but rapidly escalated into violent protests and now armed conflict. The people want change, so in that respect it is revolutionary. But, it has now escalated into open armed conflict between rebels (the revolutionary element) and government forces and armed civilian (militia) supporters of Gaddafi. Libyan civilians vs Libyan civilians and Libyan civilians vs Libyan government forces. It's a Civil War alright, and in the name of political revolution. The only way to differentiate the two would be to look at the situation before conflict begins. As an example, Gaddafi has oppressively ruled Libya, just like Mubarak of Egypt and others in Tunisia, Yemen, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The people are now tired and have demanded change, a revolution, and in some areas, like Libya, this has resulted in a violent attempt at revolution. Because it is Libyans vs Libyans, it is also a civil war, so it's a revolutionary civil war, a civil war to change things. Now, a common example of what a plain old civil war is would be the events that largely plagued Africa during the end of colonialism. In most African countries, the exit of European colonial powers left a power vacuum, whereby no one had been groomed or nurtured into government, and the result was almost always a violent civil war between various groups within the newly independent countries attempting to establish their authority. This is just a civil war as no existing way of running things had yet been established, so there is no revolution, only a civil war for control.

You've asked for several docterate degrees. I'll try and help you with one,the articles of confederation were an answer to the Nothern States, to put it politely, insistence that they ,acording to the constitution of the United States of America, stop relying on slave labor, What happened was a civil war. The effect was the Confederation lost. The Union was preserved, the slaves were freed, set the course for the United States of America to continue.

thats just to much info for your question, which is really 13 questions. and 4 times the answers needed when you ask both cause and effect, what it was and what happened. so I'll answer 1 and 2 and 2b. some other people can get into the effects of the list you present, my fingers from typing are tired already.

cause: taxation without representation, Britain leveed taxes, set the amount,, and the Colonist could not appeal or had no voice in government to argue the points.

What it was: it was actually a civil war, for the colonist where all British subjects, who rose up against there government desiring to become their own nation, much like the correctly called civil war, which means war of rebellion, and that is what the British call it, the war of rebellion. A revolutionary war seeks to overthrow ones own government and replace it with another, like France did in 1797 and Russia did in 1917. it should be called the First American Civil war, and the one in the 1860s the second civil war, or the revolution could be officially called as it is often unofficially called the war of independence. it started at a Place called Lexington Mass on 17 April 1775 and ended in York town,Va in the British surrender in September of 1781, official papers signed in Paris in 1783. Rebel militia forces, many referred to as minute men (those in Boston and other Metro Areas because they would respond in an instant if called), formed crude un trained little drilled civilian armies, only 1/3 of the colonist supported this up rising, nearly 50% where tories, or layalist to Britians Crown, and the remained just didn't care one way or the other, and just wanted to be out of the whole thing, until after thewar, then everyone swore they where a true patriot (typical American mentality). Anyways a series of poorly fought battle against the Well trained machine like british troops went on and on for nearly 2 years, it looked bleak, little financial support could be drummed up, troops went unpaid, clothing and supplies such as food and fooder for horses wa scarce, most thought the rebellion was dying down, and by the spring of 1778 would be over, but Genera lwasington (former British Colonist Captain) settled his worn and hungry troops in at a place called valley forge across the river from Princeton New Jersey for the long cold winter, he had his troops train in the snow with help from a Prussian Mercenary officer and on Christmas eve he and his troops rowed across the Potomac river and caught the Hessian (German Mercenary troops hired by Britain) by surprise, going back to valley Forge they trained harder, and i n the Spring where A very different Army, fighting form this time on much like there British counterparts, they defeated them in a series of evolving battles that kept moving south, other battles where fought in Upstate Ny and Boston was Occupied, and so was NYC, which Washington had lost prior to Valley forge, in the SOuth battle where fought in the Carolinas and other lesser ones in other states, the British where trying a three pronged attack to divide an conquer, but General Cornwallis had decided to land at York town and march on Philadelphia (then the Capitol), and Washington out smarted him , by a false move of his troops, and the US Allies, the French , attacked the British warships that where to go ahead and shell Philadelphia and NYC, General Cornwallis, was trapped on a Peninsula, and no way to go, he surrendered. the war was over.

The colonists felt that they were being overtaxed, and because they didn't have representation in parliament (england's congress), so they felt it was unfair.
Taxation without Representation

It was the thirteen colonies of america rebeling/revolting against england. The two wetn to war, and the Colonists were lead by George Washington (commander-in-chief of the army) and the british were lead by sir henry clinton, Lord and Admiral Howe (brothers), and general charles cornwallis. The colonists lost more battles than they won, but won the war and their independence.

All of the events led to the rebels (as the colonists were called) getting their independence from england.

In case you didn't know, DO NOT believe any of the answers given to you by the person listed as Jimbob, they are all wrong.

Either he is extremely uneducated about American History or he is being facetious and intentionally giving you the wrong answers.

As I do not believe that anyone could make that many mistakes about the American Revolution in one paragraph, my opinion is that he is giving you the wrong answers intentionally.

whale

PS. The same goes for the person listed as t5, he is either grossly stupid or intentionally giving you the wrong answers, again, I will assume that the latter is the case and he is supplying you with false answers.
