all of a sudden one day these pop ups startin poppin up. and i have this fake notification button on my toolbar sayin i should get a virus scan from a website. obviously, if i click the button, ill get a real virus and/or spyware.

plus i already had norton anti virus. the real thing, i bought it when i got my computer. when the pop ups first started occuring, it said i had a virus but then it removed it and every time i do a scan with norton, it says i have no viruses or anything.

but i still have that toolbar button that says i should get a scan from a website. and i still get pop ups.

and these pop ups rnt just when im surfin the web, it happens when i dont do anything

You need to download Free 2.0 at www.CyberDefender.com. Then run it in. If you still have the problem then start up in Safe Mode by continually tapping F8. If you see the Windows flag you have gone too far and need to reboot again. When you see the Black and white DOS screen select Safe Mode. Then lay your mouse over the generic icons till you find CyberDefender and run it in safe mode. It will take longer but worth it. This should fix your problems. Good luck.

Its not necessarily a virus it might just be spam program thats in your history files. First check the subscription on your Norton to ensure that is not outdated. If it is get PC CIllian, its a better engine.

Then go to lavasoft.com and download their free ad aware spyware removal program. Works great and its free. Run it every week. Good luck

What you need is a software to stop those annoying pop ups, you don't have a virus at all, it also could mean you have spyware.

use a pop up blocker if norton says you don't have a virus you are ok . if you can do away with the tool bar and download it again.

also download windows defender (Microsoft product) i really like Ad Aware SE by Lavasoft and SpyBot S&D. All three wouldn't be bad to have

Only a virus scanner can tell . . .

But I don't have any virus protector; just my Magic Restore . . .
